Cause for the failure of GSLV-F10
Dr. V Narayanan, Director, Liquid Propulsions Systems Center hinted to the reason for the failure of the GSLV-F10 during the VSSC Quality Day 2021 function. He said a reduction of pressure of 50 millibar caused the failure of the mission.
ISRO has not yet released the Failure Analysis Committee report on the GSLV-F10 failure. ISRO has stopped releasing these reports in the public domain.
A r/ISRO user Ohsin spotted this revelation in the YouTube video of the VSSC Quality Day 2021 function.
Dr. Narayanan’s remark is near the 35 minute 15 seconds mark.
The same r/ISRO user has followed up by looking at old ISRO papers on GSLV pressurization scheme and found that LH2 tank pressurization is at 2 bar. A 50 millibar reduction hence looks significant.
All engineering systems have factors of safety. Without knowing these, we are just getting data and are not getting the significance of these numbers.
